About Josh

You’re not hiring an agency. You’re hiring the guy who actually builds the thing.

I’m Josh Tanner. I spent fifteen years building production systems for corporate AV and live events, the kind where a broken system in front of 3,000 people isn’t a bad quarter, it’s a career-ending headline. I know exactly what it costs when things don’t work, and what it looks like when they run so clean nobody in the room even notices.

I live in Delafield. My family is here. I’m not guessing at this market from a coworking space in Austin with a stock photo of a lighthouse on my homepage. I’m the guy at the lumber yard who’ll tell you your website looks like it was built in 2011, and then actually fix it.

01 · Why I Built This

Excellent at the work. Invisible online.

I kept seeing the same thing over and over. Genuinely excellent businesses, the best at what they actually do, completely invisible online. Losing jobs to the outfit down the street with worse work and a Google profile that doesn’t look like it was abandoned mid-setup. Paying an agency a few hundred bucks a month for “brand awareness” and a blog post nobody read, then getting ghosted the second the invoice clears.

So I built Tanner Preserve to fix it from underneath, not around the edges. The website and Google profile that actually get a business found. The custom apps, client portals, and internal tools nobody else around here even offers. The AI that answers the phone and sends the follow-up while you’re elbow-deep in a job site. Running a Facebook ad at a broken website is just paying to find out faster that it’s broken. I build the systems underneath instead. That’s the part that actually moves the number.

02 · How I Work

Three things I won’t compromise on.

01

I build the infrastructure underneath the marketing.

Most people selling you a website are selling you a brochure with your logo on it. I build the actual systems behind it: the booking flow, the follow-up, the AI that answers when you're on a ladder. The site is the part you can see. The business running smoother is the actual point.

02

You own everything. All of it.

The website, the Google profile, the logins, the automations. Every bit of it lives on your accounts, in your name, not mine. If we ever part ways, you keep the whole thing running and I keep nothing but the invoice history. Try that with the agency that's ghosting you right now.

03

Built to run, not to babysit.

I spent fifteen years keeping live systems up in front of thousands of people with zero room for "we'll fix it in the next sprint." I build the same way here. Set it up right, prove it works, and stay close enough to actually pick up the phone when something breaks.

Don’t take my word for any of it. Run the audit and see what a customer’s search actually turns up, priced out in plain dollars. It’s yours whether we ever talk or not, which is more than most agencies will show you before the contract’s signed.

03 · The Name

Where the name comes from.

I named it after the land my grandfather preserved, a working piece of Wisconsin that’s been in our family for decades. It’s not flashy. It was never meant to be. It works, it holds up, and it was built by hand to last longer than the people who built it. That’s the only standard I hold any of this to.

Tell me about your business. I’ll tell you the truth.

Run the audit and see exactly where your presence is leaking customers, or book a call and we’ll walk through it live. If it doesn’t make sense for your business, I’ll tell you that too. I’d rather lose the job than waste your money.

Built and run by one person. That’s the point.
